Uploading an existing map to your server

To upload an existing map to your server, you need to use FTP. If you’re unfamiliar with FTP, please read our guide on using FTP here.

Maps by default need to have their contents uploaded into the world directory.  Alternatively you can upload into a differently named directory and set the location of the world directory to that location from the overview page in Multicraft.

You can then upload the directory that contains your map to the server as described in our FTP tutorial. Make sure to upload it to the root directory (this is the upmost directory that contains other files such as your server.log and server.properties files); and ensure the location given in Multicraft is the same as the name of the directory.

If you have a single player map that you wish to upload, it can be found in the following locations:

  • Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\saves – (copy and paste this into Explorer’s location bar and press enter)
  • Mac OSX: ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/saves
  • Linux: ~/.minecraft/saves
