Hey HostHorde (this post is directed at you guys)! You may or not know about the recent updates MCProHosting made. The main reason I and I'm sure many others use HostHorde is because of the prices--you guys are so much cheaper! However, MCProHosting has rolled out some really cool stuff, such as: > Java 8 > Mobile Android App > Better DDoS Protection > Cooler Panel > External Backups > Video Tutorials > Custom FTP Transfer > Etc. So, HostHorde, the only way you're winning right now is these prices. Some of these things on this list wouldn't cost too much. I want to know: what's your response to this post, HostHorde? Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this.
Their changes aren't as impressive as their site might lead you to believe. Take Java 8 for example; even their CEO says their claims are mostly bogus, as shown here: http://userfolio.com/uploads/images/clip959125_67Kb.png. Mobile app - Possibly interesting, though a mobile web browser should work fine for now. Better DDoS protection - Based on the Java 8 claims, I'm not sure I believe this one either. In any case, our DDoS protection filters the vast majority of attacks without downtime. Cooler panel - It's just Multicraft with some new colors, based on their screenshot. External Backups - This isn't really all that useful. We backup files in case of a drive failure and recommend that you create your own backups as well. Their selling point for this is "even if the node goes up flames, your data will be saved" (yes, "goes up flames" is what it says). If their data centers don't have fire management systems, that's a bigger issue than the backup situation. If they do have fire management systems, I'm not sure why this is their selling point for their external backups. Video tutorials - We already offer video tutorials for some things and will continue to add more videos to our knowledge base. You can view the videos we currently offer, here: https://www.youtube.com/user/HostHorde Custom FTP transfer - What's wrong with FileZilla? With that said, we do plan to utilize Java 8 in the future. Other HostHorde staff may have more to add to this.
Yeah, guess you're right. But yeah, when ya do switch, can't wait for Java 8. It's got to have some improvements.
We're also excited about Java 8! However, we don't have a set date for when Java 8 will be used at this time.
With all the respect, MCProHosting is... bad. Atleast compared to HostHorde. And I know this has been mentioned, but price is a MAJOR FACTOR in deciding which Host to use. For an example, their "unlimited plan" costs 60$ per month, with HostHorde's being only 25$ per month. This is a gigantic gap between the two, and we can all simply agree that... HostHorde is the best.
I was a customer of McProhosting prior to learning about HostHorde. Pricing aside, the customer service and accessibility of the staff via the ticket system has been a significant improvement. I've been with HostHorde for over a year now and have never experienced any issues. I know it's more of a personal opinion, but I've always felt HostHorde held a bit more of a professional/grounded atmosphere about them. Most other hosts cater to the younger server owners and 'extremify' their websites to lure new clients in with advertising and flashy websites more than service.
I'm sorry if this response is kinda... late, since the last post was made on May 24th xD I do agree that price is a major factor in deciding which host to use. However there is no "unlimited plan" with MCProHosting, there is an addon that you can get with any plan under the $60 dragon plan for only $2 more a month to have unlimited playerslots. This includes the air plan, meaning you can have unlimited playerslots with a plan as low as $4.50 a month (Less if a coupon code is used) Compared to HostHorde's prices, really I've yet to see any other server host beat those prices. They are great. However, it's really the service you're paying for when you buy servers through hosting companies. I can't say anything bad about HostHorde as I've never been a customer, but as for MCProHosting I know pretty well. Really, Matt didn't say that the claims were bogus, as the claims were true, just not exactly what everyone was thinking. Which is why it was clarified. That may be so, mobile web browsers should work fine for now. But why not make it better and easier to use by making an app? Really Java 8 doesn't have much to do with the claims of better DDoS protection. There were some things changed and made better for the DDoS protection. While your DDoS protection can filter most of the attacks, it can not filter all of them. Really, no DDoS protection can, but most big server hosts have about the same amount of protection. It's not quite just Multicraft, as there were changes to the code other than visuals. However, yes it is based off of Multicraft, which most hosts also use. Here I feel as if you kind of got on the defensive about this. "goes up in flames" doesn't actually mean what it sounds like obviously. It's a figure of speech, so I'm not sure why you focused on that for this point. There's not really anything to be said about this part. Well, there is nothing wrong with FileZilla, MCPH encourages clients to use FileZilla, however there are some people that just don't like using external clients, don't understand how to use them, or just have trouble with them. So the Web FTP feature is there as well.
There are so many features that Hosthorde offer but you can't find it at MCProhosting. One more thing is that Mcprohosting is expensive that hosthorde.
I just find few sites for coupon code of all such hosting. As you guys know that hosting are expensive, so we can use these coupons to save good amount of money. http://couponcodesprint.com/mcprohosting-coupon-codes.html retailmenote.com
Any progress being made on that? 8 months have passed, and I desperately require Java 8 for my server's needs.
