Taking a screenshot

On occasion, a member of support will ask you to take a screenshot of an issue you are experiencing to aid in the troubleshooting process.

Windows

  1. Make sure the Window you wish to screenshot is visible
  2. Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This is normally labelled “Prt Scr” or similar, and is normally found to the right side of the keyboard. On laptops, you may need to press both the function key (normally labelled “fn”) and print screen.
  3. Open Paint from the start menu.
  4. Press Ctrl+V or click the Paste button to paste the screenshot into Paint
  5. Press Ctrl+S or click the menu dropdown, then save to save the image.
  6. Open Imgur (a free and safe image hosting website) in your browser
  7. Click the Computer button on the right side, then navigate to where you saved the image, select it and click open.
  8. Click Start Upload and wait for the upload to finish
  9. Copy the link to the image from the right side, found under “Link (email & IM)” and provide it to the support staff who requested the screenshot.

Mac OSX

  1. Press Command + Shift + 3 and the screenshot will be automatically saved to the desktop
  2. Open Imgur (a free and safe image hosting website) in your browser
  3. Click the Computer button on the right side, then navigate to the desktop, select the image and click open.
  4. Click Start Upload and wait for the upload to finish
  5. Copy the link to the image from the right side, found under “Link (email & IM)” and provide it to the support staff who requested the screenshot.
